Self-isolation and quarantine have made me regret all of the times that I stayed indoors on beautiful San Marcos days when the air was COVID-19 free. Because of this, I started making a list of all the things I wanted to do or do again in the San Marcos area so that I will never take freedom for granted again.
Here are LOCAL places to go and things to see in the Central Texas area when it becomes safer (however, some can be done while social-distancing). See you there!
1. Float During Sunset
Imagine this: sipping on a cold beer and finishing up the last bit of your float with the Texas Sunset in the sky.
2. Swim in a Watering Hole
There are tons of gorgeous watering-holes in the Austin area. I’ve always wanted to pack lunch and swim with friends. Here are a few on my list:
3. Girls Day at Three Dudes Winery
Three Dudes Winery is adorable and has a great view while sipping wine! They will even hold events where you can drink wine and play with baby goats. However, as of June 1, Three Dudes Winery is in the process of being sold, so you will have to stay up to date with their Facebook page.
4. Try a CBD Coffee
Lazydaze is a cute coffee shop in San Marcos that sells CBD-infused coffee and products. KTSW even holds events there!
5. Camp at Enchanted Rock
Enchanted Rock is a great place to get away and see the stars. Plus, the town of Fredericksburg has some really unique restaurants and shops.
6. Try Alcoholic Ice Cream
Tipsy Cow Ice Cream Shop is yet another local business that sells ice cream with alcohol in it. And there are over 80 flavors, with and without alcohol.
7. Hit Some Balls at that Cool-Looking Driving Range
You might have driven by this driving range and seen the cool lights and fun atmosphere. Bobcat Golf Range is BYOB, laid-back and seems like a fun place to spend an evening with friends.
8. Shop in Wimberley
Need I say more? Shop local!
9. See a Concert at Gruene Hall
Again, a must (when concerts are safe again)!
10. Take the Glass Boat Tour
Most Texas State students got to do this their freshman year during the university seminar class. However, my trip was canceled due to weather and I never got to go back. So, this is something I want to do before I graduate!
11. Take a Shot when the Train Rolls By
I love Industry, but I’ve never taken advantage of the train shot. The location of the restaurant is right near the train track, so whenever a train rolls by shots are $3.50!
12. Have a Date at Middleton Brewery
I haven’t been to a brewery since turning 21, so this San Marcos local brewery is a must!
13. Attend the Art Squared Arts Market
I am so mad that I never took advantage of the Art Squared Market in Downtown San Marcos. Support local artists and add something new to your room or closet!

Do you really believe publishing a “Bucket List” is appropriate during a pandemic?
