With Valentine’s Day coming up, people are looking for different ways to express their love. There are endless possibilities such as cards and candy, but a love song means something much more. San Antonio creatives Ultraviolet Boy and Joslyn Daniel recorded a two-song, split EP that is a perfect message to send to loved ones this Valentine’s Day. From cherished friendships to longing love interests, Dream of Eros EP has themes that many can relate to.

Eros is an astrological placement that describes a person’s love interests. Along with everyone’s main Zodiac sign (Aries, Taurus, Gemini, etc.), they have an Eros sign as well. Daniel and Ultraviolet Boy go in-depth with the EP’s title.

“[Eros] is like how you express your love,” Daniel said. “You can’t control how love hits you.”

Dream of Eros is to give in to what is literally in the stars for you,” Ultraviolet Boy said. “Just feel it all.”

The first track, “Greener Grasses” by the indie-pop artist Ultraviolet Boy, is a tribute to their best friends.

Ultraviolet Boy, also known as D’Vonna Mille and formerly known as “Vonna,” wrote each line about a different friend that all tie into this theme of strong companionship that’s special to Miller. One line even includes Daniel, as they have been friends and bandmates since middle school. Along with its lyrics, the upbeat track’s playful guitar loop is easy to get stuck in the listener’s head.

Dream of Eros is both of our perspectives of love at one point in time or another. My track is based on platonic love,” Miller said. “When I’m with my friends it’s always greener grass.”

The second track, “Venus-Mars,” by upcoming pop artist Joslyn Daniel, is all about infatuation and yearning for another person. This charming ballad is a great contrast from “Greener Grasses.” Its lo-fi rhythm and heart-piercing melody match the tone of its lyrics.

“I wrote it with one particular person in mind. Somebody that I’ve liked for a long, long time,” she said. “It’s just about having that crush for so long and it’s just such a lighthearted song, I think. But it also is like, ‘I miss you,’ and then it goes straight into ‘I love you’ after saying we never dated.”
