Living in Austin, Texas, summer is always an anticipated time of the year and it is time to embrace the heat and finally go outside to enjoy ourselves. This season brings out the best kind of experiences because of the weather forcing us to either be at the lake, the pool, around nature, or be around our favorite people.
There is nothing like a perfect summer playlist that will complement and enhance your experiences during this summertime everyone has been craving. I want to take the time to introduce some appropriate and vital songs that you can add to your upcoming experiences this summer.
To start with an underrated classic, “Sister Golden Hair” by America is the epitome of a wonderful classical song that is meant to be sung by everyone witnessing the loveliness of this tune. There is something about a song led by an acoustic guitar paired with an electric guitar that creates such a pleasant sound to the ears.
If “Sister Golden Hair” has never blessed your ears before, I highly recommend playing this song in your car with the windows down (as cliche as it sounds) on a day with good weather to get the full effect. If you like a folky, pop, lyrical song, this will suit any setting to compliment your happiness!
Moving on to one of my favorites, “Super Trouper” by ABBA never disappoints (like any other ABBA song). This song builds upon the poppy synth beats with strong female vocals that make you remember you are alive! “Super Trouper” is such an uplifting song that will remove any negative energy and bring you into a radiating aura of what we simply call an anthem.
Next, we have the smooth and groovy “Topdown” by Channel Tres, which is an addictive song with a mix of Hip Hop/Rap and Dance/Electronic genres. Channel Tres has an appealing approach to his deep rap vocals that round out the techno beats to make this song a one-of-a-kind jam that you can’t deny. “Topdown” is a song to dance to and have a good time with because the mix of genres leaves you feeling fulfilled and refreshed.
Lastly, I have one of my favorite bands to mention – Sports, specifically “Shiggy” by Sports. “Shiggy” is the song that put me on to Sports, and it is still as amazing as the first time I heard it. Their sound consists of Alternative/Pop and Funk/Psychedelic, and when you listen to “Shiggy,” you can hear an overflowing sound of influences, but they still provide you a unique and fresh sound.
I highly recommend these tracks to be introduced to your summer playlists to highlight some beautiful music for this summer season!
