The Texas State University Police (UPD) sent out a TXState alert Tuesday, alerting the TXST community of explosion threats in four buildings.
The threats reportedly came from a stack of flyers that pinpointed Jowers, Theatre, Chemistry and Education buildings for the next three days. A student alerted the police Tuesday morning about the flyers.
Several organizations are working together to determine if the threat is serious. These organizations include ATF, UT Austin Police Department, Homeland Security and the FBI.
UPD have swept the outlying areas and buildings, and the UT Austin Police, Austin Police and the ATF canine explosives team helped with the search.
As of 5:40 p.m., the four buildings were “searched extensively and no suspicious items or activities were found.” The police said they did not evacuate the buildings. Classes and university activities are scheduled to continue.
Strahan Arena was also searched as an added precaution because of the women’s basketball game happening tonight. Only the northeast side entrance of the arena will be open, and bags will be checked at the game.
Over the next three days, “there will be an increased police presence on-campus as the situation is being investigated,” UPD said.
If you have any information relating to the flyers, please contact UPD at (512)-245-2805.
