Spring Break is approaching fast! Whether you’re booking it to the beach with your closest friends or having a chill week in town, these five songs are essential to any Spring Break playlist.

First on the list, we have “Amber” by 311. This song is a classic early 2000s beach anthem. If you’re laying by the ocean, sipping on a piña colada or at least want to pretend you are, this is the song for you. A relaxing reggae-pop tune about the warm aura of the singer’s love interest, the melody feels like drinking sunshine from a straw. Sunny day at Sewell Park? Put this song in the queue to listen to it exactly as it was intended. Thank me later.

Next up is “Turn to Stone” by Electric Light Orchestra. Is it really a Spring Break playlist without a little 70s flair? Electric Light Orchestra is infamous for their positively infectious music. This song will make you smile so hard, your cheeks will start to hurt. Reminiscent of running through the sprinklers as a child, this track creates a cheerful and nostalgic phenomenon. Their sound is so addicting, after listening to this, you might want to add all of their songs to your Spring Break playlists.

After that, we move on to “Polish Girl” by Neon Indian. “Polish Girl” is a song your cooler older sibling would play while hanging out with a group of friends, before slamming their door in your face. A beautifully produced synth-pop tune by Denton, Texas, native, Alan Palomo. This is meant to be played driving in the car with the windows down at sunset, wondering what the night has in store. This song makes you feel present, creating an urge to truly live in the moment, which is what Spring Break is all about.

Next is “WINDY SUMMER” by Anri. Based on the title, this addition to your playlist may seem a bit premature, but this is a perfect song for when the weather is getting warmer. This 80s J-Pop tune is everything you need. A beautiful synth intro that gives you goosebumps, a groovy bass line, and lively saxophone solo, this song truly has it all. Doing some spring cleaning? With this song on, you will have no choice to stop for a dance break.

Last, but certainly not least is “Island In the Sun” by Weezer. When I listen to this song, I automatically think of Spring Break. This addition to the rotation is for the Aquamarine lovers and the ones that may still play mermaids in the pool. Similar to “Amber,” this is perfect for the beach, but let’s be honest, it’s perfect for any time and any place. If “Amber” is drinking sunshine from a straw, “Island In the Sun” is injecting sunshine directly into your veins. This is what elite Spring Break playlists are made of.

I truly hope you all will consider adding these to your Spring Break playlists, as they all provide unique sensations that will add some warmth to your rotation. Please have a happy and safe Spring Break, now go and have some fun!
