A Boil Water Notice was issued for parts of the Texas State University San Marcos campus this morning in a precautionary fashion.
The buildings affected are the Nelson Wing of the Agriculture Building, Colorado, Music, Pecos, Pedernales, Sabinal and Trinity.
Individuals in these buildings must “boil their water prior to consumption” which includes washing hands and face, drinking and more. This is because of “reduced distribution system pressure” in the Texas State University Water Distribution System’s public water system.
The notice also said water should be brought to a “vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes” before use. The water should be boiled and cooled for drinking, cooking and ice-making to make sure harmful bacteria and other microbes are removed.
Bottled water and water from other appropriate sources may be used for any human consumption purposes.
The TXST water system will share a notice that rescinds the boil water notice once the issue is resolved.
For any questions about this, you can contact James Vollrath, the Utilities Operations Director, at (512) 245-2517 or jev73@txstate.edu.
