If you are unfamiliar with music artist Teezo Touchdown, don’t worry, you won’t be for long. The 30-year-old artist from Beaumont, Texas is finally ready for the big stage and has not disappointed.
I was first introduced to Teezo Touchdown in 2020 during the pandemic. With a lot of time on my hands and a pair of headphones, I was on the hunt for new music. A good friend of mine recommended Teezo Touchdown’s song “Careful”. To be honest, after the first listen, I was concerned about taking more recommendations, but after going through his discography and giving his songs a few more spins, I quickly became a fan of his energy and his agenda to “keep the mid off the streets.”
Alongside great visuals and a unique voice, Teezo Touchdown’s name wouldn’t stay under the radar for long. In 2021, Teezo would get a chance to be a featured on “RUNITUP” from Tyler the Creator’s CMIYGL album released on June 25th. After a surprise feature, Teezo would also be the opener for Tyler the Creator on his CMIYGL tour alongside Vince Staples and Kali Uchis. After the Tyler co-sign, this would spark an unbelievable feature run for Teezo. Just to name a few, Teezo is featured on songs with Westside Boogie, Don Toliver, Rico Nasty, Lil Yachty and Travis Scott spanning from June 2022 to Aug. 2023, and that’s not even the full list.
With an amazing feature run over the span of a year and the release of a few singles, Teezo fans were eager to hear the artist on his own album, and that is exactly what Teezo would deliver. Announced on his Instagram on Aug. 10th of this year, Teezo’s debut album would be titled How Do You Sleep At Night? and the rollout for the album had begun. Over the past month, Teezo would release short snippets with visuals for tracks off the album and had music fans talking. The most notable promotion would come from Drake who Teezo posted on his Instagram after having Drake listen to his album stating it was “some of the best music ever.” With the release of the album this past weekend, I would have to agree with Drake.
The 14 song album was exactly what I expected from the mind of Teezo Touchdown. My stand-out records from the album are “Sweet ft. Fousheé,” “Impossible,” “UUHH,” and “Nu Nay”. Teezo describes his genre of music as Rock & Boom, stating his music combines “R&B with the intensity of Rock, the penmanship of Hip-Hop and a boom that will shake the world!” With songs such as “Too Easy,” “OK” and “Neighborhood,” Teezo is right on the money with his description.
I highly recommend giving Teezo Touchdown a chance; with his voice alone he can light up a room, but when you combine that with superb production and outstanding lyrics, you get exactly what Teezo was going for which is Rock & Boom and mesmerizing music. I see Teezo lasting a very long time in the music game, given the connections he has already made and showing the capability to stand-out in the universe of music. I think it’s time for an official Teezo Touchdown takeover.
For those who want to get familiar with some of Teezo’s work before entering his Rock & Boom world with his new album, I have provided a link to all the songs I have heard him featured on and some of his older songs from 2020.
Thank you, Teezo Touchdown, for sharing your music with the world and providing us music fans something to rock out to and as you would say, keeping the mid off the streets.
