On Thursday, KTSW presented its famous Third Thursday at The Porch. Third Thursday is a monthly show put on by The Porch and KTSW that brings local artists to show the San Marcos crowd what they’re made of. Nestled in The Square of San Marcos, The Porch exudes a dreamy atmosphere, with its disco ball casting shimmering lights across the venue and colorful hues painting the walls. It was an electrifying showcase from the talents of the bands Lluvii and Dumb Belles, hailing from Austin to San Antonio, respectively.
Lluvii – 10:00 PM
Lluvii, a four-piece band from Austin, kicked off the show at 10:00 PM with their soulful art rock tunes. Their performance was nothing short of captivating, as they seamlessly transitioned from one song to another, creating a fantastic flow throughout their set. Known for their single “Bass Case” and their recently released EP Pacifico on Spotify, Lluvii brought an eclectic mix of tracks that had the crowd dancing and thoroughly enjoying themselves. Their energetic and fun-filled music resonated with the audience, transforming The Porch into a lively dance floor. The four members Kaylin Martinez on drums, Felix Kimbrell on keyboard, Ryan Gordon on bass and vocalist Carol Garbanzito gave an amazing performance that captured the audience, leaving the crowd wanting more. Keep in touch with Lluvii and catch them at a future show by following their Instagram, @ll.uv.ii!

Dumbbelles – 11:00 PM
Taking the stage at 11:00 PM after Lluvii, Dumb Belles seamlessly carried over the energy and maintained the vibrant atmosphere. The Dumb Belles is a dreamy indie-pop ensemble from San Antonio, Texas. They state on their website that they draw inspiration from bands like Hinds, Nova Twins, The Aces and Fleetwood Mac. This female-led, three-member band currently has three singles released on all platforms. Dumb Belles captivated the audience at The Porch with their whimsical synths and layered vocals. As their set drew to a close, Dumb Belles left the audience spellbound with a memorable performance of their most recent single “Alrighty Aphrodite”, which was a perfect display of their dream-like sound. I found Dumb Belles’ performance both endearing and empowering; the ultimate way to end the night. To learn more about Dumb Belles, check out their website https://dumbbellesband.com! You can also follow them on Instagram @dumbbellesband to stay updated on their upcoming shows.

After experiencing the electrifying performances of Lluvii and Dumb Belles at The Porch, I left feeling inspired and full of self-love, all thanks to this post-Valentine’s Day celebration of music. Going out to support local artists is something everyone can do. Not only does it help local bands to expand their demographic but also builds community between artists and listeners. The energy, talent and empowering vibes of both bands resonated deeply, leaving a lasting impression on the audience that night.
