The Bobcats routed Texas Tech 8-1 in the final game of this weekend’s tournament, finishing 3-3 overall.
Texas State struck first with a grand slam by Sara Vanderford and kept pouring it on with back-to-back 3-run innings in the bottom of the third and fourth. Texas Tech’s only score was in the top of the third with a home run from Alanna Barraza that initially tied the game before a 7-0 scoring run from the Bobcats.
Jessica Mullins pitched a masterclass in this revenge game, only allowing two hits, one run and one error through the whole game.

Head Coach Ricci Woodard spoke on Mullins and her performance in their previous matchup with the Red Raiders, in which they lost 4-1.
She said she hadn’t asked anything differently of Mullins “I thought the team put her in a much better spot today for a complete ballgame.”
The Bobcats dominated with some spectacular catches on defense and some huge scoring runs on offense, which is a much different story from their loss to the Raiders just a day ago. Coach Woodard spoke about the big difference between the two games.
“We started out aggressive, and it’s what I’ve been preaching for two weeks now: to stay aggressive and not end up on the defensive side, and I thought all around everyone was more aggressive on both sides.”
The Bobcats look towards the sunny skies of Tempe, Arizona, next weekend, facing Arizona State at 6:00 p.m., hoping to carry this mentality and get a few more in the win column.
