ASG elections polls closed April 2 and the results are out.
You just heard the announcement of the new student body president and vice president for the 2014-2015 school year. Tiffany Young is elected as the new president and will work with Sean Quinones as the new vice president. April 2, the results were announced at 7 in Lily’s Lounge in LBJ.
The constitution referendum passed with 357 votes. Current ASG President, Vanessa Cortez, explains what the new constitution entails.
Young says she is very relieved the election is over because it was a tough competition. She expresses what her first moves will be as president.
Young’s platform includes increasing the amount of online and correspondence courses, honoring our student veterans, and creating a database of campus organizations to help students find where they fit in.
Although presidential candidate, John Wilms, was not elected, he has plans to continue improving the university.
ASG senators report some rivalry between Young and Quinones, but Cortez says she thinks they will do a great job together and are ready for the responsibilities. For more information on the student government, you can visit their website at asg.txstate.edu.
