Artist: Jacco Gardner
Album: Hypnophobia
Label: Polyvinyl Records
Released: 2015

Dutch artist Jacco Gardner takes psychedelic to a whole new level while at the same time bringing it back to its 60’s roots. Hypnophobia is an album full of catchy hooks and breathtaking soundscapes that are comparable to the Mama’s and the Papa’s, but have a neo-psychedelic sound. Songs like “Find Yourself” and “Another You” are very easy to dance to, but other tracks like “Outside Forever” and “All Over” should be listened to very closely to get the full effect of Gardner’s music.

Hypnophobia sounds very similar to his last album Cabinet of Curiosities, but the main difference is that they keyboard is much more prominent on Hypnophobia. The keyboard, which is played by Gardner, gives life to the single “Find Yourself”. At first Gardner sounds like he could be in a Tame Impala side project but give this album a few listens and it’s clear that Gardner is on a whole new level in this neo-psychedelic movement.
