Valentine’s Day: Local businesses for last-minute gifts

SAN MARCOS – Valentine’s Day is the day to show your love and appreciation to those who matter most to you. Although this day is filled with romance and affection, it can also be nerve-wracking and stress-inducing, especially to those who are last-minute planners.

When it comes to planning the perfect day for your partner, the first thing to do is assess their love language. Though not everyone’s love language is gift-giving, a small token of love will not go unnoticed by your sweetheart. From flowers to sweet treats to jewelry, I’ve thought of a couple of perfect Valentine’s gifts that will win the heart of your Valentine.

What better way to spoil your sweetie pie than to buy delicious treats from your local bakeries? If your Valentine is a food lover at heart, consider ordering a seasonal treat such as heart-shaped cake or chocolate-covered strawberries.

Hey, you up? Another inviting sweet treat to visit is Insomnia Cookies. The name is quite fitting for the business hours since Insomnia Cookies is open seven days a week from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m. on select days. (This one will be extremely convenient for last-minute gift shoppers) Insomnia Cookies has brought back its cookie pizzas and heart-shaped cookie cakes for Love Month.

This delectable cookie comes with a double chocolate chunk cookie crust, with your choice of toppings and icing. If that doesn’t sing to your taste buds, Insomnia has plenty of options to choose from ranging from cookie box combos and brookies. San Marcos’s floral shop, The Floral Studio, has a wonderful selection of bouquets and arrangements to choose from.

Try something other than H-E-B this year, and support your local San Martian florist who will personally create something special for your Valentine.
