By Timia CobbMusic Journalist My sadness can be dramatic, suffocating, painful, lonely and is never satisfied by one sound. In my sadness, I can crave the slow soulful voice of Beyoncé as she sings about wanting trust in her relationship. My sadness can be because I’m afraid of my everchanging future which causes me to listen to the entire “It’s Not That Deep” EP by Olivia O’Brien. Sometimes I’m just […]
By Timia Cobb Web Content Contributor It’s sad to say that many people didn’t even want to read subtitles until late 2019 when “Parasite” won multiple awards and was raved about by everyone. However, when “Parasite” gained the attention it deserved it also brought awareness to how western countries purposely ignore non-english speaking shows or movies. For years US film and TV companies have made foregin speaking films/shows into remakes, downplaying and disrespecting the […]
By Timia CobbWeb Content Contributor As soon I learned Bernie Sanders was hosting a rally in Austin, Texas, I knew I had to attend. I gathered a group of friends and drove to Austin first thing in the morning and attended my first presidential nominee rally. As we were driving to Austin we couldn’t not notice the huge tank-like truck that took up almost two lanes. My friend soon pointed […]
By Timia Cobb Web Content Contributor The air is getting humid, your cheeks are getting warmer, your trying to adapt to the heat in the tiny space you’ve found yourself in. Your shoulders feel strained from being pushed inward towards your chest. All eyes are on you or that's what you’ve made yourself believe. You don’t belong, you take up too much space to be in such a small seat […]
By Timia CobbMusic Journalist I tend to cruise YouTube in the middle of the night in search of new music. My music taste during this time of night is wide and peculiar, but it has led me to find some listen worthy artist. Princess Chelsea https://youtu.be/mDise_Em_Ug Like her title, Princess Chelsea is a princess (not literally). However, her voice has this sweet, kind aura that draws you in just like […]
By Timia Cobb Web Content Contributor The infamous Harley Quinn is back and better than ever in “Birds of prey” with a crew of rough, hard-core, and praiseworthy women. “Birds of Prey” had a lot to live up to due to its not-so-good predecessor “Suicide Squad” that came out in late 2016. However, despite the horrible reviews of “Suicide Squad”, I didn’t give up hope that “Birds of Prey” would […]
By Timia Cobb Web Content Contributor The U.S. is $1.4 trillion in debt because of student loans. $1.4 trillion is enough to buy 10 Jeff Bezos’, compensate for the yearly salary of 18 million teachers or end homelessness and hunger in the U.S. Millennials and Generation Z have to worry about debt more than any generation before, which makes it understandable why we aren’t spending money, popping out kids anytime […]
By Timia Cobb Web Content Contributor A college campus isn’t the easiest place to eat healthily. If you're like me, grabbing something quick that’s packed with caffeine or sugar seems easier than searching for the very few healthy options offered. That is why bringing snacks and lunch to school is a great option. When people think healthy the first thing they might think of is bland or expensive. However, since […]
By Timia CobbMusic Journalist MAGDALENE is a self journey that fans are honored to take with FKA twigs. It earned its name from the biblical figure Mary Magdalene, a follower of Jesus Christ, who throughout history has been wrongly downplayed to be a prostitute, although the Bible never directly showed evidence to support these assumptions. Twigs was inspired to name her album MAGDALENE to represent how powerful women can be […]
