Jo’s is a true San Marcos gem. With what feels like a never-ending amount of unique coffee shops in our small college town, picking a favorite can seem inconceivable. Despite these odds, I truly believe I have found where my heart lies in the café community here.
Jo’s has so much to offer. First of all, the food makes this place a super viable option when looking for places to grub in San Mo. They serve breakfast all day (my favorite meal of the day), and the pancakes… the pancakes make my mouth water just thinking about them. The tacos are tasty as well. If I peel myself away from the breakfast menu, there are tons of super yummy lunch options available too!

Even though the food is bangin’ here, the ambiance keeps me coming back. The handwritten chalk menu and signs posted everywhere combined with the mismatched furniture gives this place a distinctive sense of comfort. I’ve found myself dosing on the funky patterned couch more than once. That’s just the inside though; the expansive multi-level patio outside is truly something else. I love spending time out there on beautiful San Marcos days. With tables, benches and lounging chairs, there’s something for everyone. The aqua color of the house gives off the perfect cheery vibe.
The feeling in this place totally extends to all of its patrons. The people I met at Jo’s are so friendly and welcoming. Often times, I see the same faces because once you realize how special this place is, you’ll crave it. It’s perfect for studying, grabbing lunch or just catching up with friends. I can’t recommend it enough.
Come check it out for yourself! Maybe I’ll see you there.
