Ok, I pulled up, hopped out at the after party…
The Marc, a nightclub in San Marcos, hosted the official Don Toliver After Party on July 11. The event sold out almost instantly after tickets became available thanks to eager fans and San Marcos residents.
With the Marc being an 18+ night club, guests of all ages were able to be a part of the experience. I was lucky enough to be granted tickets for the media crew from the venue. And let me tell you, the Don Toliver After Party at The Marc was certainly one to remember.
The after-party was scheduled closely behind Don Toliver’s performance at the Moody Amphitheater in Austin, Texas. Upon arrival, you could already feel the excitement in the air. There were many guests at the two bars on either side of the room and a large number of people dancing on the main floor.
The night began with the venue’s usual upbeat lineup of songs. With a live DJ welcoming the guests as they arrived, the crowd began to buzz with excitement as they anticipated Toliver’s arrival.
With throwbacks and current hits, I was pleasantly surprised by how the music reflected the crowd’s energy. Hours before Don Toliver arrived, the dance floor was already crammed shoulder to shoulder.
With the upbeat and hype tunes from DJ Aarooo and DJ Ortiz, the crowd happily danced and sang all night. There were sections for VIP guests on the upstairs balcony. The balcony contained VIP tables and a fully stocked bar for 21+ guests.
Around approximately one in the morning, Don Toliver finally arrived. The crowd roared with excitement as he took the stage. He had the entire venue jumping as they screamed the words to his latest hits. Even after his concert in Austin, the energy he put into his performance on stage was contagious. His stage presence was phenomenal as he connected with the audience.
With songs like, “After Party” and covers of Travis Scott’s “Can’t Say”, Don Toliver did an amazing job keeping the audience hyped throughout his entire performance.
Students like Caleb Brock, an exercise and sports science major, were thrilled with the event.
“It was everything I expected, and he performed more songs than I thought, so it was definitely a good time,” Brock said.
While many were satisfied with his performance, other guests were left wanting more from the event.
Students like Katherine Rea, a journalism major, reflect upon Don Toliver’s overall performance.
“It was a super short set, but he had the whole crowd jumping,” Rea said. “He should’ve stayed longer, he literally ended before the club closed.”
While the event ended sooner than some would have liked, his performance was certainly one worth waiting for. Overall, I had a great experience at the Don Toliver After Party, and I cannot wait for him to see him in the upcoming future.
