By Conner Yarbrough Music Journalist Macie Stewart and Sima Cunningham, known together as Ohmme, are the Chicago-born and -based duo exemplifying the versatility of the electric guitar and its power when mixed with voices like theirs. In an over-the-phone interview, the two discussed with me their classical training, growing up in Chicago around other musicians (like Chance the Rapper), the inception of Ohmme and their current tour promoting their debut […]
By Conner Yarbrough Blog Content Contributor Sitting down to write a review of Ohmme’s most recent show at Mohawk Austin’s indoor stage is (probably) the hardest time I’ve ever had writing a show review, like… ever. And, it’s not because I don’t have anything to say about their set, but, instead, I have too much to say about the talent that I’m convinced no one in that room was ready […]
By Conner Yarbrough Music Journalist Artist: Ohmme Album: Parts Release Date: August 24, 2018 Website: https://ohmmemusic.com/ Sima Cunningham and Macie Stewart, known together as Ohmme, are the Chicago-based duo proving why music, despite the current formulaic pop epidemic, truly is a fine art. Their debut full-length album, Parts, does nothing less than destroy the boundaries between intellect and instinct in an enthralling 38 minutes. The opening track, “Icon,” is the […]
By Conner Yarbrough Blog Content Contributor & Staff Editor As one Facebook reviewer describes, Moon Dunes is “straight space yogurt.” While their music seems almost perfectly defined by this galactic comparison, this chill-wave quartet of San Marcos 20-somethings is even sweeter than the review implies. A band I would easily wake up at 7 a.m. again to hangout with. A band whose star-crossed members are just as cool as the […]

Each of these events exist to celebrate the contributions of women throughout society in whatever role they fill in their daily lives. And, what better way for a college radio station employee (like myself) to celebrate than by sharing […]

By Conner Yarbrough Blog Content Contributor Well, it’s happened again. The so-called “greatest country in the world” has had yet another mass shooting; this time at Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. A total of 17 were killed, another 14 injured, and countless others, as of February 26, will have returned to the classrooms where they had to hide in fear for their lives. Families lost their sons, their […]
