Giovanni Giorgio Moroder is an Italian record producer, songwriter, performer and DJ. He is frequently credited with pioneering in synth disco and electronic dance music. Déjà Vu is his 17th studio album. In this album, he collaborates with some big acts. Hidden within this disco wonderland, you’ll find the voices of Sia, Charli XCX, Britney Spears, and many more. This album is the soundtrack to an insane, but memorable vacation. It reminds me of some surreal nights that I’ve had on 6th street in Austin.
The album’s vibrant red cover makes one want to explore the music within. My favorite song on this album would have to be the rendition of Suzanne Vega’s Tom’s Diner sung by none other than Britney Spears. Spears’ vocals are backed by some sweet electronic beats. I was surprised that they managed not to screw up this classic song. That’s Giorgio’s whole game; he gets artists to sing over his phat beats while throwing some vocals in himself. If you’re into electronica and losing it on the dance floor, this album is for you!
